How To Play
GUIDE
SELECT A THEME
Visit the Theme Shop and select one of the themes available. Each theme has seven characters. You can purchase additional character packs for a bigger party.
*Only you (host) will need to buy the theme, all your guests can play for free.
ADD DETAILS
Once you’ve selected a theme you can now enter details of the party of where your guest should meet and greet, such as; date, time and location.
Make sure to include your guest in the loop if its convenient for them.
INVITE GUESTS
Assign characters to your guests. Simply read the character bio to best match a friend by tapping «Share Code» to send via text.
Guest playing w/o a smartphone?
Make sure all characters have been assigned. If the minimum number isn’t met, there won’t be much of a mystery to solve!
JOIN A PARTY
You will receive a code from your host. To join the game open Whodunnit and select «Join a Party» to enter the code which will add you to the game.
Once you’ve joined the game you’ll be able to see the date, time, and location.
DECORATE
Make sure you have enough time to decorate your location. Need help decorationg? Send us a message or chat with us to give you some great ideas!
MEET AND GREET
Show up to the location in character. When everyone arrives, it’s a good idea to gather everyone to introduce themselves to the group, sharing their names and perhaps one or two background details.
PLAY ROUND 1
Once intros are made, head over to Round One and select «Introduction» and unlock «Secrets & Objectives». Read the intro out loud as this will get the party started.
SECRETS & OBJECTIVES
Listen to the introduction delivered by the host. Your host will unlock the “Secrets & Objectives” cards on your device. Read these right away, they’ll give you more insight to your character and guide you on some tasks you’ll need to complete.
BON APPÉTIT
While food is being served, mingle with the other guests as you stay as true to your character as you can. Are you playing an incessant chatterbox? Talk to everyone! Is your character shy? Act more aloof!
ANNOUNCEMENT
After 30-45 minutes have passed, the host will unlock your Death Card, as you might have special instructions to carry out. The host will gather everyone together to make an announcement.
SOMEONE DIES
After the host makes the announcement, the victim will fall to the floor. Whodunnit?
INVESTIGATION
Read the Investigation out loud to your guest. When you’re done, unlock «After the Murder Objectives» for you and your guest to complete.
AFTER THE MURDER
Mingle with the guests as you try to get information out of them so you can find who committed the murder. Don’t forget to complete your new objectives!
VOTE
Allow another 30-45 minutes for the guests to complete their After the Murder objectives.
Make an informal announcement for everyone to vote on who they think the murderer is via the Whodunnit App or tally the votes on a sheet of paper.
WHODUNNIT?
Vote for who you think the murderer is via the Whodunnit App. And decide who should go home with Best Actor and Best Dressed Awards.
PREPARE FOR YOUR ROLE
Read the background information about your character to understand their motivation and why they might be the murderer. Get your costume together based on the suggestions included in the app. Don’t forget to post your photos with #WhodunnitApp via social media.
PLAY ROUND 2
Allow 30-45 minutes for the guests (and yourself) to mingle and complete their objectives. When you think everyone’s ready. Head over to Round Two and tap on "Announcement" and unlock the "Death Card". (Some) Guest will have specific instructions to follow.
CONCLUSION
Read the card marked, «Conclusion». Finally, announce the winners of who seleced the correct murderer and guest awards for Best Actor and Best Dressed.
